Did the Eastern Madeira walking holiday. The hikes were lovely though some were crowded. But they were crowded cause the view was great. So can't skip loved the ocean side cliffs for a couple days and then the forests along levadas. We had a misunderstanding with the driver as he thought we should have finished sooner. So give them a reasonable estimate. He never asked and his estimate caused all the issues. But we whatsapped the company and they set it straight. Food is good in the towns. We packed lunch everyday as some of those places along the way had long lines. We went a day early and did a sightseeing day with their driver and it also helped with jet lag. Hikes are pretty moderate, so you have energy to enjoy the town in the evenings. The Island is beautiful ❤️
Exploring Madeira on foot was an incredible adventure. The trails offered a variety of experiences, from dramatic cliffside paths to lush levadas (irrigation channels) winding through the forests. The island’s unique landscapes were unlike anything I’ve seen before. Samo was fantastic, providing clear guidance and tips on which trails to prioritize based on my interests. The accommodations were excellent, and the local cuisine was a delightful bonus. This walking holiday introduced me to the wonders of Madeira, and I’ll definitely be back!
I did the Fisherman Trail in Portugal mid April and I had a fantastic time. The trip was well organized and the luggage transfer seamless. The maps were clear and easy to navigate, and always got me to my destination safe and sound. And the accommodations felt like a complete splurge, especially the B&B. And of course the views along the trail were amazing. Definitely would recommend booking with them!
If I could give 100 stars, I would. I don't know if you're a big company or just two or three people behind this, but thank you for such an amazing experience. It was a beautiful adventure. The trails were perfect, each day different from the rest, and a natural beauty that I have seldom seen elsewhere. I had no experience in the world of hiking, and now I can't wait to do the next one! (hopefully next time organised by myself 😂). I had one of the best weeks of my whole life. Thank you a million guys.
Hiking Tours, and particularly Suzana, ensured our family hiking trip to the Peaks of the Balkans was wonderfully organised and tailored to our requests. Suzana's patience and positive approach was evident in how graciously she responded to our need for luggage transfers, altered hiking routes and accommodation preferences. The guidebook provided by Hiking Tours, including accurate 'Ride with GPS', was comprehensive and extremely helpful. Despite the excellent planning by Hiking Tours hiking can throw some curve balls but Hiking Tours also works with some amazing locals in the Balkans - incredibly appreciative of Alen from Samel's Cottage in Montenegro (and his many contacts) who was so kind helping unwell or injured members of our hiking group reach destinations safely. Overall, despite the challenging terrain and distances, the Peaks of the Balkans trails are a beautiful and varied adventure, and well worth the (for some of us, considerable) effort. We look forward to hiking another amazing route with Hiking Tours.
Anja at World Discovery designed an 10 day hike along the Parenzana trail from Muggia, Italy to Porec in Croatia. She took considerable trouble to tailor the trek to our requirements and in the main it was very good. Some beautiful accommodation ranging from hotels to some wonderful small b&b's and apartments. World Discovery provide an App for the itinerary with links to Ride with GPS, a good mapping system that kept us on the right route even when signage was a bit sparse. The route took us from coast to coast through stunning scenery and we visited a number of beautiful villages and towns. The trail is an old railway track, mostly used by cyclists but perfectly ok to hike along although in some areas, stopping points are few and far between! We loved the area, the people (some of our hosts were superb), the food and the wine! The weather, in September, was kind with only one wet day. Highly recommended
